First and foremost, it's important to note that My Brain Academy is a school, not just an extracurricular club. You can choose your child's schedule when enrolling or fine-tune it later in August or early September with our local branch manager. If, due to technical reasons, no suitable time can be found and My Brain Academy is unable to open English Communication Clubs at your child's school, your child will be offered one 60-minute group online class and access to learning materials for six months. If your child enjoys the online lessons, they can continue with them. If not, the registration will be cancelled.

In most cases, however, parents actively seek solutions: adjusting music lessons, sports, and other activities so that their child can attend the English Communication Clubs.
Your child may have amazing talent, but without English, they will be limited to the small Slovak market, and that would be a shame when they have the potential to show their talent to the world.

If, due to limited capacity, we cannot process all schedule requests or open multiple sessions at your school right away, we ask for your patience until late September or October. Typically, more options (additional class times) open after parent-teacher meetings, as more parents enroll their children. This often allows us to open communication clubs on multiple days at each school.

To enroll, you need to fill out the online registration form, wait for the confirmation email, and then pay the €35 registration fee using the correct variable symbol. (The registration fee covers materials, teacher selection, and preparation, which must be arranged in advance.) After that, you’ll set up monthly standing order of €35 (from August to May). Your school already has a schedule of English Communication Clubs prepared. If none of the in-school times work for you, feel free to choose from our online lessons, available Monday to Friday from 4 PM to 8 PM. All the relevant information is also available in your personal account after logging in on our website. There, you’ll find an overview of payments, attendance, and your child’s learning progress. Throughout the year, your local branch manager will be available to assist you with any organisational matters.

In-school (offline) learning:
For younger children (up to 4th grade - primary level), our instructor picks them up from the school club and takes them to a classroom within the school where the 60-minute lesson is held. The lesson and its methodology are based on the school curriculum, so the child practices in a practical, communication-focused way what they have learned at school. The lessons are dynamic and focus on various engaging activities that keep the children involved. If your child says they “played” during English class, it means the learning process was so natural that they didn’t even notice they were studying. After the lesson, the child is returned to the school club. For older children (secondary level), the students meet the instructor at the school reception or entrance, then go together to the classroom. The lessons focus on conversation and communication, helping to complement the school curriculum with practical language use. We aim for our students to reach a B2 level (maturity exam level) by the time they finish 9th grade. After class, the children leave independently.

Online learning:
The child receives a login link to attend classes online, which follow the same format as the in-school English communication clubs, but the children participate from home. You can choose from a wide range of days and times (Monday to Friday). Children are grouped based on their grade, knowledge level, and age. They receive materials to work on at home and then practice them during lessons. Even online, our certified and trained instructor monitors attendance and records the curriculum progress in the Zooza app, where each parent has access to their child’s account.

At My Brain Academy, our goal is to improve the overall level of English language skills in children across generations. That is why we have set a monthly flat fee of €35, an amount that won’t break any household budget but can open up a whole new world and many opportunities for your child. The price per hour of our English lessons is only €4.37 (for 60 minutes), which is the lowest price on the Slovak market. This monthly fee is a fixed installment and cannot be stopped month-to-month, because My Brain Academy also has financial obligations to the state, schools, and instructors that must be fulfilled. Therefore, it is necessary to pay €35 for the entire 10 months of the school year. This monthly payment option is a courtesy to parents, so they aren’t burdened with a large one-time payment but can pay in smaller monthly installments. We kindly ask that this payment plan is not misused to unregister children mid-year, as that is not allowed. If the full yearly amount were paid at once, you might not give the child a choice whether they want to continue or not. Just like a child doesn’t learn to play the piano in one month or even half a year, learning a language also takes time. Try it for at least one year, then you will see the results and can make any decisions after that.

If your child doesn’t enjoy our English communication clubs for any reason, please contact your local branch manager. They will work with you to address the specific issue. Sometimes it's about the teacher, sometimes it's the group dynamic, and sometimes it's about the child themselves. That’s why an individual approach is essential, and both our branch managers and lecturers are trained to provide it. The solution is not to withdraw your child immediately and say they won’t continue, especially while the payment still needs to be made. If you had paid the entire year’s tuition at once, you probably wouldn’t be asking whether the child wants to continue or not. If your child doesn’t like our English lessons, chances are they wouldn’t enjoy lessons anywhere else either. Our shared goal is to support your child, show them that learning English can be simple, and guide and motivate them to use it confidently and naturally. If there’s ever a problem, we’ll work together to solve it, so that your child feels happy and supported.

If your child has a higher level of English than the rest of the group, our branch managers will work with you to find the best solution. Your child may be moved to a more advanced group, or they may receive individual attention during lessons.

Our lecturers are trained to handle these situations, and our materials are designed in a way that allows all children to stay engaged and keep moving forward, without feeling bored.

Our teachers assess each child at the beginning of the school year to make sure they are placed in the right group. We also cooperate with English teachers at each school, who give us feedback on the results of our work. Parents often notice improvements in their children’s grades,  sometimes by as much as two levels. As a result, children stop struggling with English, and schoolteachers notice progress in communication and comprehension. At mid-year and at the end of the school year, we send parents a report with our evaluation.

This is individual. Some children show results after just half a year, while others take a full year. In any case, learning a language is a process, and it can't be mastered in just one month, just like a child can’t learn to play the piano in a month. Everything takes time. What we can say for certain is that after one year of attending the My Brain Academy English Communication Clubs, your child will be able to use English naturally in age-appropriate communication. And as they grow older, our “Mind Maps” will help them understand how simple and practical English can be in everyday use.

In the case of a short-term illness (1–2 weeks), your child will smoothly rejoin the learning process once they’ve recovered.

Our teachers can give individual attention and help the child catch up on any missed material within the group setting, often in a way that the child doesn’t even notice they were behind. Your child also receives all materials for the whole month, so they can review or complete anything at home if needed.

In case our lecturer gets ill, the lessons are made up online on weekends, when the teacher is fully available, based on agreement with parents and the branch manager. Our teachers rarely get unwell. The illness rate is only 5%.

If your child is ill for a longer period (3 - 4 weeks), they have the right to one individual online lesson per month (included in the monthly fee), after agreement with the branch manager and teacher. During this lesson, the teacher will cover any missed material with your child, so they can smoothly rejoin their group when they return to school.

At My Brain Academy, we also organise open lessons for parents, where they can come and observe a class. However, this is possible only after the first three months, once the system is in place and initial results are visible. Parents can attend an open lesson after registering with the branch manager.

Our methodology is designed to support the school education system, which means that we primarily focus on reinforcing the material children already learn at school. The basis of our lessons is conversation centred around practical tasks and activities, so that children enjoy learning. Through our “mind maps,” children quickly understand and realise how simple and easy English can be. If something is unclear to the children, our lecturers provide additional explanations to address any gaps.

Children are not formally assessed during our lessons. Our classes are highly effective and divided into 6 blocks designed to keep children engaged and motivated. Knowledge is internally evaluated by the tutor, who adjusts the teaching methods and involvement of each child according to their individual needs. Since the groups are small, individual attention is possible when needed. Children’s behaviour is also an important part of the lesson’s effectiveness. At My Brain Academy, we do not use standard school disciplinary methods such as grades, remarks, punishments, or rewards. However, discipline must still be maintained, but in a different way. Our tutors are trained to lovingly escort children back to the school club if they repeatedly disrupt the class or do not respect the tutor, and the child will not be allowed to continue participating in that lesson.

Our tutors have zero turnover. Since My Brain Academy carefully selects its lecturers and offers them good compensation, they strive to stay with us for a long time. Our lecturers undergo special certification training and participate weekly in a tutor academy, where they receive practical and professional support. We believe that a strong relationship with the language is built through the right tutor and their approach to students. That is why our lecturers are a key foundation of our success.

Regarding native speakers for young children, we do not recommend them. First, the child needs to understand the language, and only then can we train the accent and communication with a native speaker. Therefore, at My Brain Academy, native speakers are introduced in lessons for older children who already have a good grasp of English and only need to polish their accent and get used to communicating in a foreign language.

To make this possible, My Brain Academy has a few rules that apply during our lessons together.

WHERE and WHEN?
We have English lessons on the same day, at the same place, throughout the school year at your school.
If the lecturer picks you up from after-school care (ŠKD), please be ready so we don’t waste time.
We don’t run in the hallways, we walk together to our classroom.
Please use the toilet before the lesson starts so we don’t disturb each other during class.

HOW?
Every month, you will receive a new “Workbook”. Please, bring it to class and write your name on it. If you lose it, you will need to buy a new one. Keep it in the bag you got from us, along with your stationery.
If you need help with school subjects, bring your school books to class and we will assist you.
Each lesson lasts 60 minutes (5 minutes for greeting at the start and 5 minutes at the end).
